Who are UCSF Connections Mentors?
UCSF Connections Mentors are trained volunteers who have lived through a similar diagnosis as a patient or caregiver. They understand the emotional, practical, and day-to-day questions that come up and share real-life experience, encouragement, and guidance.
What can I talk to a Mentor about?
Anything you’re worried about—treatment decisions, everyday life, navigating UCSF, caring for a loved one, or simply what to expect next. Mentors do not give medical advice—they share personal experience and support so you feel less alone and more confident in the moments that matter most.
“UCSF Health Cancer Center represents an unprecedented advance for people affected by cancer. It is inspired by two ideals: to bring the latest cutting-edge treatments to patients more rapidly than ever before, and to ensure that our patients are front and center in everything we do.”
